Atlan raised $105 million in a Series C round to build what it describes as a control plane for data and AI, the layer that keeps enterprise data organised, trusted and ready for AI systems. The data governance company, a WaterBridge portfolio holding, was founded in 2019 by Prukalpa Sankar and Varun Banka and sits on top of a company's data infrastructure, stitching together sources so teams can find and govern what they need.

The founders frame the raise around a shift in enterprise priorities: as boards press their technology leaders on AI plans, the harder problem is not the models but supplying data enriched with business context, trust and security.
