Speaking at the Entrepreneur 2024 Summit, WaterBridge Ventures managing partner Manish Kheterpal framed the current funding cycle as a shift away from the easy-money years toward a more selective phase built around profitability and larger deals. He pointed to a rebound in Indian startup funding, which rose about 53% in the first eight months of 2024 to roughly $7.5 billion across 780 venture deals.
Kheterpal also weighed in on the strength of India's IPO market, the tougher path facing mid-stage companies trying to raise capital, and 'Bharat Wapsi,' the trend of startups shifting their legal domicile back to India.
